When traveling to South America, many choose to start their trip by making Brazil their first stop. A good majority of these travelers will fly into the Brasilia International Airport. This is one of Brazil’s most modern airports, and often handles 9 million passengers or more each year. Located in the capital city of Brasilia, the Brasilia International Airport is surrounded by a variety of nearby attractions and is considered one of the most beautiful cities in Brazil.
Once one has arrived in Brasilia, there are enough attractions to interest most anyone. One of these is the Brasilia TV Tower, built in 1967. This is a communications tower, and is one of Brasilia’s tallest structures, at 224 meters high. Another popular site for visitors is the Memorial JK, a mausoleum built as the final resting place for the late Brazilian president Juscelino Kubitschek, the founder of the city of Brasilia. Contained here are the medals and other personal items belonging to Kubitschek, as well as several pictures of the city during its construction.
One of the most recognized attractions in this area is the Catedral Metropolitana Nossa Senhora Aparecida. On the outside, it is much like other churches in Brazil, but inside, it is a work of beauty. The floors and walls are made of marble with the ceilings made of glass.
